Staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in the State of Kuwait have today officially welcomed the newly appointed Counsellor, Madam Kumba Nyandemoh, who has represented Sierra Leone in different foreign missions.

The official welcoming programme was organised in the Embassy’s Conference Hall, in Al-Zahra.

In his opening remarks, the Head of Chancery, Mr Momodu Wurie, welcomed Mrs Nyandemoh to the Mission and noted that he was looking forward to working with her, especially to advance the agenda of the Embassy. He disclosed that the Counsellor assumed her tour of duty in November 2020, but given that the Ambassador was out of the country they were unable to formally welcome her.

Sierra Leone Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, Her Excellency Haja Ishata Thomas, in her statement, welcomed Mrs Kumba Nyandemoh and expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation for the support she has been providing since her arrival last year, adding further that every staff of the Embassy was an ambassador representing Sierra Leone and promoting its interest.

“The Sierra Leone Embassy in the State of Kuwait is a family, irrespective of race, nationality, region, tribe or affiliation. I believe Mrs Nyandemoh has adapted to life in Kuwait. I must admit this year will be a busy one, especially in fulfilling pending programmes and initiating new development and investment activities for our beloved nation. This is achievable because, with the addition of the Counsellor, we now have the formidable team to actualise our objectives,” HE Ishata Thomas said.

Welcoming the Counsellor, the Financial Attaché, Mr Christopher Freeman congratulated Mrs Nyandemoh on her appointment and wished her the very best in the course of her duty. He mentioned further that the Embassy was thrilled to have her as an integral member of the family, noting that the Sierra Leone Embassy in Kuwait would always be a wonderful place to work. He appraised that the Mission has made significant progress in recent times and that was as a result of strong, dedicated and exemplary leadership inspired by the Ambassador and Head of Chancery. He concluded that the Mission would hope to tap from her experience gained in other sectors over the year.

Mr Mohamed Marrah, on behalf of the local staff of the Embassy, welcomed the Counsellor and noted they were pleased to have her as part of the team. He expressed optimism over Mrs Nyandemoh’s commitment to adding value to the Mission and assured her of their maximum support in accomplishing her tasks.

Responding to various speakers, Mrs Nyandemoh expressed elation in the warm reception she received, adding that her role would be primarily focused on Consular Services and other administrative duties assigned to her. While thanking the Ambassador and the Head of Chancery for providing a friendly work environment and the needed support, she promised to work concertedly to achieve the Embassy’s objectives.

The Head of Chancery, in his closing remarks, re-echoed the purpose representation, disclosing further that the massive transformation the Embassy has undergone under the leadership of HE Haja Ishata Thomas has been largely due to the contribution of all staff members.

“It is quite challenging to have people working cohesively and producing the result. While I thank you all for your individual support, I want you also to know that 2021 is a year of hard work. Our aim is to woo as many developments and investment opportunities as possible and the activities have been reflected already in our 2021 work plan. It is expected that every staff will contribute to the pursuit of achieving our mandate. Therefore, I urge every staff to continue the good work,” he concluded.

The recent appointment of the Counsellor brings to six the total number of diplomatic staff working at the Sierra Leone Embassy in the State of Kuwait.
